On April 28, Sunday, the founders of ElecFreaks , Robi and Youmans paid a visit to make exchange of hardware development at Huangqiangbei, the location of HAXLR8R office in Shenzhen. HAXLR8R, is a venture fund which focuses on entrepreneurs building hardware devices, a simple word in conclusion, it being a startups incubator for the hardware companies, offering seed funding ($25,000), office space as well as mentorship along with the other opportunities for 2-4 person startups to take an idea to a product.
HAXLR8R selects startups to work with twice a year from the teams who have submitted the application form previously and has a dual location (San Francisco and Shenzhen). And currently the crew of HAXLR8R settled here, together with ten startups filled with enthusiasm for creation, developing and improving the new hardware products , which has been widely received as the start of a new hardware revolution.
Among the ten startups, we chose three of them to have a conversation with, deeply amazed by the uniqueness , practicability , artistic appearance presented in the products. We don’t want to give away too much.. but here’s a little sneak peak of it.
Helios are bike enthusiasts & dedicated riders. They understand the risks of sharing a road with automobiles, and they are convinced that bicycles should be just as visible as any other vehicles on the road. Helios bicycles are made with visibility, strength, and sleekness in mind, tastefully combine all three in a way that compliments your style and keeps you safe at the same time. The one below is an improvisation, completely handmade creation, bendable, foldable, flexible which is very convenient to be taken back home. We extraordinarily favorite it.
They are angeleyes, and they have faith in that personal robots will be as ubiquitous as personal computers in the foreseeable future, so they wholeheartedly devote themselves to a robotic aircraft project called " Hex", which is an open robotic platform based on open source. It has the abilities that other air robots have, like autonomous pilot and preprogrammed air maneuvers, obstacle avoidance, trajectory movement, and so on. In addition, it has the advanced functions of accomplishing multiple tasks with different peripherals. Possible uses include filming by auto tracking the target with an airborne camera, rescue research, 3D re-modeling, geographical surveying and mapping, transportation for short distances, and more. The one below is currently a tentative prototype which is still need to be tested and perfected.
Light up was set up by two graduate students in Stanford university, who believe every kid should learn Electronics in an engaging interactive way that lets them turn their ideas into real projects, and hope to create a world of active makers who feel capable of building and improving the devices around them.The one below is the Electronic project made for the kids. No soldering, no breadboard, kids just need to snap and assemble the magnetic electronic blocks into a working circuit board, and the most distinguishing feature is that the interactive smartlight tutor helps the kids to continue when they are stuck.
Actually, we really appreciate the enthusiasm presented for innovation and the responsibility assumed for community, which belongs to all of those makers. ElecFreaks always dedicate ourselves to establish a platform for makers all over the world to exhibit the creations and spread the ideas in the design.
