Dreaming with a cooking micro-robots course

Dreaming with a cooking micro-robots course

Do you still remember in July we ever donated a meaningful course activity, called “Cooking your own microrobot”, facing to all kids and students in all ages, as at any time, we assume the responsibility to reward society, especially in the field of education, therefore, this month, we sponsored another "Dreaming with a cooking micro-robots course". Hundreds of persons were interested to participate in it, taking place in the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Murcia, SPAIN . All the offered vacancies were occupied with students, professors, engineers, and other curious persons that searched “some different”, learning the fundamentals of  programming language and  open  source  development  platform.

The “Cooking” course achieved its main objective: “teaching the micro-robotics fundamentals with a cent per cent practical course” where development systems, electronics components, soldering irons, clippers, screwdrivers and breadboards were the main tools used to motivate assistants with several hand-ons oriented to design, mount and program a micro-robotics platforms

The core of the system was based on the well know by several of electronics enthusiastics Arduino platform, www.arduino.cc, “a open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software and oriented to be used by everybody: artists,   designers,  hobbyists  and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments.” Several of analogous platforms based on Arduino can be found in the market, as the Freduino, which offers best prices or some additional facilities, as Ground and Power pins to connect sensors directly.

Through this course, assistants learned the fundamentals of the programming language and the opensource development platforms that they can use to program the Arduino core, in graphical or textual mode, using simulating tools to achieve a complete know how of the “future brain” of their own micro-robots. Students, professors and engineers were able to build their own “low cost” micro-robot in the course, less than 60 dollars. Admire it? you can also purchase from here to cook your own micro-robots.
